“Midnight in Paris”

I saw the most incredible movie  last night that touched my inner pretentious nerd.  It filled me with memories from my year abroad; mingling with British brainiacs over classic literature and walking the streets of Paris all lit up for Christmas. It reminded me that I am most happy in a 1920s-inspired speakeasy, listening to a piano player sing the lyrics of Cole Porter while sipping a French 75.

Stop and smell the parchment

Events like these remind me why I was an English major. I spend so much time on my computer scanning through social media sites and watching endless hours of television that I sometime forget I love books. Not specifically because I enjoy reading, but because I like the sensation of holding, smelling and turning pages. My favorite part of reading books is the rush that I get after finishing a story and closing the back cover onto it.
